Yes, a reservation is needed for boarding and daycare, and we recommend making it early. Depending on the time of year, we can sometimes accommodate on short notice. Holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas book several months in advance. We often fill up early for weekends during summer months. Please note that we do require a deposit to hold a boarding reservation.
You can make reservations online through our online booking software or you can call us at 608-571-7225.
We get that life happens and there is no penalty for canceling daycare reservations. We will cancel future daycare reservations if you have a pattern of not showing up to reservations scheduled in advance.
Boarding reservations canceled less than 72 hours prior to the start of the reservation will lose the deposit. We do make exceptions for emergencies and the discretion of management.
With new dogs, they can experience sore paws after visiting our facility. This is due to the level of running/walking they do outside on the pea gravel. Over time most dogs develop tougher paw pads and will no longer experience this issue. If your dog gets sore paws, it is best to give them as much rest as possible. You can also apply some triple antibiotic ointment w/ pain relief to their paws/pads as needed. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOG TO LICK THEIR PAWS! That will make their paws worse and could lead to infection.
Boarding room rates are charged per day. On the day of arrival, guests may be dropped off at any time during normal business hours, although we do recommend dropping off no later until an hour before closing. On the scheduled date of departure, check out is at 11:00 AM. However, you may pick up your pet anytime during business hours with the understanding that pets picked up after 11:00 AM will incur an additional boarding day fee.
We do not allow pick up or drop outside of out normal business hours. Pick up on Sundays is limited to 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
We want your pet to feel right at home when staying with us. We ensure that they are taken to a private play yard multiple times per day. In addition, feeding is done at 6am, 12pm and 5pm. Have a special routine that you would like us to follow? No problem! For an a minimal fee, we offer doggy daycare, walks, one on one play time, and more, to ensure that your pet’s schedule is not interrupted. Ask us about our Additional Services and we’ll help you customize a stay that works for you and your pet!
We allow our boarding guests to bring in a few toys, food, treats, and any medications or personal care items. If you prefer, we are happy to feed your dog our kennel kibble, however a sudden change to a pet’s diet may cause intestinal distress and diarrhea. We provide cots and beds to all of our guests. So we do not take in bedding or blankets. If you are bringing in food, medications or medical care supplies, we ask that you provide us with enough for a few extra days, just in case things don’t go as planned and you are unable to return by your scheduled date of departure.
Yes! For dogs that are less social, day boarding is a wonderful alternative. Your pet will stay in one of our standard rooms and will be regularly taken to a private play yard. Ask about adding on some extra attention to ensure your pup is getting all the activity they need!
Feel free to call us any time during business hours to get an update on your pet. We understand how much you miss them and we want you to know that we are always available to answer any questions you may have. We also offer daily boarding report cards filled with photos of your pup for a small additional fee.
We have staff on site most of the day, every day of the year. Our facilities are locked and set with top of the line security systems. We also have video cameras running inside and outside of the facility at all times. In case of an emergency, we have on-call staff within a few miles of each building, as well as fire alarms and smoke detectors. The smoke alarms are connected directly via cellular connection to a 24/7 monitoring facility. The safety of your pet is our number one priority at all times.
We are happy to provide food to your pet during their stay. Your pup will enjoy American Natural Premium Sensitive Care. If your pet suffers from allergies we request that you bring in their usual food from home. Be aware that any sudden switch in your pet’s diet may cause gastrointestinal distress and diarrhea. For this reason, bringing in their usual diet is highly recommended.
We know that every dog is different. Dogs come in different sizes, ages, and personalities. Our facility features four different play areas to insure that your pup is placed with a group of friends that they will get along with.

Your dog may be tired. Why, you ask? It’s one of the great benefits of doggie daycare! Dogs play all day so they are naturally tired at the end of the day. If your pup becomes overly tired during the day, we will take them to a suite for a short nap. It’s not uncommon for dogs to sleep after they come home.
Your dog may also be thirsty. Water is available at all times in play areas and suites, but playing hard makes dogs thirsty.
If your pup’s paws are sensitive, there’s no need to worry. It’s common for dogs’ pads to be sore after playing, especially when they first start coming to Leader of the Pack. Most dog’s paws aren’t used to playing all day but they will build stronger pads the more they visit Leader of the Pack.
Leader of the Pack is a fun, active environment, we do recommend feeding your dog a minimum of 90 minutes prior to joining our activities in order to prevent bloat. Bloat can be caused from playing too soon after eating and it can be deadly. If they have eaten sooner than that, please let our staff know at check-in.
This depends on the dog, each dog is different. If your dog is the older mellower type then he/she will be grouped with dogs of a similar temperament, some older dogs enjoy romping around with the young kids, while some prefer to nap, We let your dog make this decision. There is no forced interaction and each dog is allowed to participate as much or as little as they please in the activities we provide.
Our daycare group sizes vary significantly from day to day. We break our pack into groups based on size, temperament, and play activity to ensure that everyone has a fun and safe time! Our staff match dogs into groups as they arrive daily, allowing your pup to tell us how they feel that day and where they would have the most fun. We are committed to maintaining a staffing ratio of about one staff member to every 20 dogs.
